Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC)
New York, NY

For the last decade, the GIC headquarters in New York has been decentralized and housed in two distinctly separate locations, one in lower Manhattan and one in mid-town. SubenDougherty has designed a new facility for GIC at 335 Madison Avenue that consolidates and streamlines GIC’s operations. The new 36,000 square foot headquarters includes a state-of-the-art trading floor, a generous conference center and an abundance of open space and staff amenities. There are only four private offices in the entire space with the majority of the staff accommodated in large workstations. The design is contemporary yet timeless; the selected materials and motifs incorporate a palette of bamboo wood (millwork and flooring) and stone, which is used extensively at key areas for floors and countertops. The overall design strictly adheres to basic feng shui principals both in the location of particular functions and in the design elements that are placed within.
